In the media, there's been a lot of lambasting of GPs and the 2004 contract as the sole cause of A&E problems that have occured in the last year or so. This is despite clear evidence from the King's Trust that it had nothing to do with the contract. http://www.kingsfund.org.uk/blog/2013/0 ... increasing We already knew that as out-of-hours care was taken over by the Dept of Health, there was a rise in the number of walk-in centres and minor injury units to compensate. What we didn't have was visible data. |
