Of course the general public probably had no idea the site existed until now

I certainly did not know about it. Though as a non football fanatic I really do not care. Though this will be pointless as there will be ways around it. Though there are huge conflicts of interest for all the major sports providers apart from the BBC and ITV.

It's whack-a-mole. if they stop that one another site will spring up. Until they do something to address the demand for live streaming of footy matches, they're on a losing wicket.

Exactly. The problem is that the public want the games at a sensible price, so will do what they can to get a sensible price.

Not me. Though I do think that the BBC should bring back Match of the Day for the fans. Football has got too expensive.

Match of the Day is still on ?!

Watching football is now riotously expensive. There are now many people who want to go to games but can't afford to. They are going to look for alternative means to meet that need. The providers (clubs/broadcast networks) have two choices : provide for that market, or watch it go elsewhere. Sky TV charging a tenner a day for Next TV or whatever it's called isn't a solution, because high price doesn't suppress demand when alternative suppliers are available - and most people aren't going to give a monkeys whether it's 'legal' or not if the only people losing out are Sky TV - which most people see as 'Rupert Murdoch' - and the Premier League clubs, who earn and then waste money beyond the dreams of any normal person.

This is 2013. The US TV network with the highest number of subscribers is Netflix. More music is sold per day by Apple than HMV. You can move with the times or get left behind, there is no other option.

Might be worth getting simply to stream US TV.

im assuming your meaning the bbc should have premier league matches on free to ai, MotD is on every sat,sun night during the season. So if they did that how do they fund the rest of the bbc?

I would not know that, not being interested in football. If they show games that is fine. Even though it is not within my normal viewing I do think that some games should be paid for from the license fee.

And I have discovered that they are showing Match of the Day tonight. It is the highlights of two internationals.

There's no point of the week where you could tune into the BBC and expect to see live sport.

Excuse me for quoting myself, but I was just reading the thread back and realised how utterly archaic the notion of 'tuning in' a TV or radio station now is

(edit : oops, edited instead of quoted. > Can't be bothered to type it all in again. Short version : There is actually next to no live sport on the BBC, unless it's a 'special occasion').

ITV are not much better. I remember seeing World of Sport with Dickie Davies years ago, but even ITV no longer show much sport on a Saturday.

If I was so inclined given the quality of streams from quite a few places I'd pay for a premium service if I was to use it, mainly F1 for me though

I think that we all have our own particular favourite sports that we might consider paying for. The overall price of any such streams are far too high. Even the NFL stream is around £100 a year.
