The Swede do the same as Finland, Kids stay in kindergarten till 7 and they count and learn the alphabet. They also basically read and sing nursery rhymes. In fact they have thousands of small schools each within walking distance. Classes are smaller and even though they do not start formal studies till later they have overtaken us by 15. They are also pretty bilingual as well and you only really have problems with older people before the mass English studies. We need to copy the Scandinavians rather than the Victorians.
