I wonder if it was another problem with the batteries? |

Can Boeing actually build a plane that doesn't dismantle itself in some ludicrous way? Airbus must be laughing their bits off. |

Apparently they do not have anything as efficient as the dreamliner so they are not in a position to benefit massively. |

Nothing much more fuel efficient than an inoperative vehicle. ![]() |

It doesn't matter how efficient it is if its sitting on the runway and you're having to compensate all the passengers for the delay and paying off all the other airlines who have missed their takeoff slots cos your plane incident closed a runway for eight hours. This is, what, the third serious fault with a Dreamliner in a year? These things are supposed to run without a hitch for decades. |

I think it is far more than three incidents. Two in a day is really bad. Boeing do have a serious problem to deal with. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk. |

Errr, the A350 is a direct competitor and is currently at the point of flight testing. Deliveries are due to start next year. Given the backlog of the 787 order book, I suspect quite a few airlines could order A350's and get them in a similar time frame. |

But that is not now, or within a few months. In time airbus could take a good slice of Dreamliner sales if there are more incidents. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk. |

Just hope that your plane does not go down. |

Isn't it the beacons on the black boxes then? No matter all the life rafts should have their own (less powerful) beacons anyway. |

It was mentioned on the news the other day that they also carry onto every plane an extra portable beacon as well - so each plane usually has two on board (the built-in one and a portable unit). So disabling or removing the built-in beacon won't be of major concern. At least in the short term anyway, they'll still have a beacon on board every plane. |
