That's good news. What he did was horrible.

Clearly, they have a difference of opinion on what constitutes a "playful tiff" - I hope the hateful old git dies miserable and alone.

My wife infuriates me at times (and vice versa no doubt), but the day I raise my hands to her is the day I shall seek professional help. People who do that aren't wired up correctly.

And poorer. I doubt that she will have any problems getting one on the grounds of cruelty.

I agree. I rather walk away than strike someone.

Question: If the photo had shown her hands around his neck, would we even know about this, let alone care?

I have nothing but disdain for Saatchi but it does seem to me that, had she been assaulting him, the "playful tiff" defence would have worked.

Not necessarily it would depend on whether he looked shocked in a photo. Domestic violence by women against men is a known phenomenon even if the police generally regard it as a joke.

That simply doesn't wash. Who cares about what ifs? The fact is that he was photographed with his hands around her throat, not the other way round.

He may well do. Who'd have him knowing he's like that?

I care about what-ifs - hence why I asked the question.

I think the comments here - saying that Saatchi should spend the rest of his days alone - are entirely correct. My point was not that the "playful tiff" manoeuvre should have worked for Saatchi but rather that, had the roles been reversed, it probably would have worked for Nigella.

I think we would because she is a celebrity in her own right. Though in the current circumstances she is probably better off without him.

Divorce done in High Court today - took less than a minute!

Nigella's definately better off without him.

And I bet she won't be short of any potential new suitors.
