http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-23502947 Fcuk, we've only ever sat at the table together at Xmas and I'm not even gonna bother with that again. Three dumb, stressed-out women and a child running around? Never again. |

My family get together quite regularly, and they are all remarkably civil affairs. Lots of booze and food. No arguments. Though I do think that families eating together does have significant benefits. You get to find out if the kids are having problems at school etc. |

Until I moved to the UK, I had all my meals sat down with my family (breakfast, lunch and dinner). What's the point in having kids if you're not going to talk to them :S |

Exactly. As a child, we always sat at the table together to eat. With my new family, we all eat at different times (shift work and different school chucking out times each day), but we always tried to eat together at the table at weekends. |

I know my parents still do it though. My mum finishes at 7 usually, my sister at 4, my father at 5.30 and my brother at 6.30 and they all have food together at 7.30 pm. I don't see the reason for eating as soon as you get in :S |

We get home between 12:30 and 20:30. That means that those that get home at 12:30 make themselves something to eat. Those that get in about 16:00 make themselves something to eat and then we try and eat an evening meal together, but that doesn't always work, Because the youngest daughter goes to bed at 19:00 and my fiancé and I go to bet about 21:00, which usually means I grab a sandwich or something quick, when I get in between 19:00 and 20:30, before going to bed around 21:00 - 21:30 - youngest needs to get up at 3:30 and we get up at 5. |

We always had our evening meal together. In silence. With the TV on. And we had to sit facing away from the TV. Any deviation from this resulted in verbal abuse. When we started going to secondary school together, we had breakfast at the same time. In silence. With the TV on. Sitting away from the TV. It was only when we all went to uni that whenever we met up, we would sit down together to chat as well as eat. |

We always sit at the table together for our main meal. It's a time for discussing what happened at school/work and general conversation - one of the best parts of my day. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
