I bet you will need a certificate if you take it to a country that implements this, even if we don't. Personally, I think this is a good idea. I've seem some real wrecks being towed about, and at time I have had to put my foot down to go past them because I'd prefer not to end up being hit by stuff that falls off. |

After seeing how easily those caravans broke up on Top Gear last week they do need to be certified. |

I think the manufacturers of said caravans might argue that they were being used outside circumstances that would be covered by warranty. |

But, like cars, they can deteriorate in ways that will make them more dangerous - rust, tyre wear, etc.. Also hoping that the checks will test for CO emissions and safety of cooking appliances as well. I am genuinely in a caravan at the moment. It's a static one on a site. There are already rules about how long they can be kept for in this situation. I know that when it's 20 years old, it will have to be removed. Surely similar rules must apply to towable caravans? |

The caravans were definitely being abused but you might have expected them to stay together a little better. Considering the hatred for caravans from the Top Gear presenters I am surprised that they literally fell off the chassis so readily. |
