I wouldn't trust Cameron as far as I could throw him, but Labour had their shot at the economy they inherited and cocked it up big time... |

As with all tory governments, it is the poor and the working class that will suffer. Best get to the airport while you can still afford to. |

It really worries me that so many voters can't see through Mr Smug and willingly vote Tory. Can't they see the Conservatives simply are the same problem dressed in a different colour? I despair. Gav, save us a seat, will you? |

To be honest, as far as I'm concerned, the same can be said for all politicians, they are only in it for them selves. Heather - you are excluded from that statement on the basis that you are not a politician you are somebody that wants to make a difference. Sadly I've never come across one of those who is a politician. |

I'm sure there are one or two out there. Meanwhile, my rampage to Westminster is failing due to apathy - and not just on my part. |

Neither would I, but I'd still trust him much more than any Labour or Liberal politicians. |

Even when Vince Cable predicted the financial crash long before either of the other two parties saw it coming? I can't see how Mr Bandwagon is a safer bet than Labour or LibDem. I've said it before, but I'm shouting into the wind like everyone else who thinks the same as me, that what we really need is a new idea in British politics. More of the same but a different colour simply won't fix things. All that will happen is the same old short term views, aimed at winning another general election and f**k the future. It's time to throw out the party system and get real people into power who actually know what goes on out here in the real world, beyond the Westminster Bubble. |

Last time the Tories over saw a recession, we had: • 3,000,000 + unemployed (NB - the number was far higher - the numbers were tweaked to only count those claiming Unemployment Benefit) • Government led disassembly of our manufacturing base • Mortgage interest rates of 15% and upwards • A government unwilling to do anything as they believed that the market would sort itself out The current recession has seen: • 2,000,000 + unemployed, and rising • Banks near collapse and part nationalisation of them • Banks unwilling to lend to businesses, despite being state owned • Base interest rate at 0.5% • Retail sector under serious stress • A government appearing to be unable to deal with the situation, despite making noises that it wants to. In both cases, inaction by the government has been the key to our doom. The Tories made a choice to do nothing, and the current Tories would have done nothing either. Labour seems totally incapable of getting the banking sector out of it’s non-lending hole, despite owning a good chunk of it. It seems that the banks are calling the tune, and the government has no option but to dance to it. |

You'd think with the government owning majority stakes in some of the major banks they'd be throwing their weight around. ![]() |

the tories are no different from labour and labour are no different to the tories the lib dems haven't got a chance of being elected we need PPR with any party forming a Govt under PPR to remain for a fixed 4 year term, no get out of jail card, no resigning, no calling an early election the parties forming a Govt would have to remain together for the term of that parliament (if a party withdraws from Govt then the majority party holds that/their vote as a proxy vote until the next election) an elected upper house with each voted member serving a fixed term of 20 years and then can not stand for re-election a bill of rights and a written constitution fully incorporating the human rights act then and only then is when we see long term policy benefiting the entire nation … |

There is really no way to tell the two main parties apart these days, but only one can be branded “class traitors”. |

However, we would probably have a smaller national debt and some money to spend if they'd wanted to do anything. |

You can brand them all whatever you like. It's irrelevant. Heather's right. A change is needed and I know you feel me Paul ![]() |
