If you pay for that service then yes you are right they would not expect that on top of your fee.

Actually, I don't.
You can't trust Google. For years they've been up to all sorts of ethically 'interesting' activities, which are usually discovered and then followed by a 'Oh, that, oh goodness, we didn't know that was happening.'
Nothing Google does is accidental.

They'll probably have to put out some sort of statement, especially with MS crowing recently about them scanning your emails to serve up ads - everybody knew, but now Google look care-free about it in a time when the NSA are making the headlines alongside them, and MS would like to make hay.

I am so glad that I have avoided most of Googles offerings. I do not even keep the cookies from their search engine.
