Cheeky Charlie!

I have to say I like the fact that he's his own man, but he's fast heading towards corruption (both his and the state's) by the look of it. If he hasn't already crossed that line...

Corruption?
Not quite - don't forget we live in a monarchy with a democracy by permission.
(Cue the republic/royalist banter ad nauseum.)

I'm using it as a broad term since it's all a bit murky at the moment.

He has a right to look over any legislation that might impact him. Is this any different from any company getting staff placements in relevant government departments? Just look at the numbers of accountants seconded to HMRC and the treasury.

Is he trying to influence policy through these placements or is he trying to ensure that they are following policy? If they are keeping track of whether government and business are abusing, for example, toxic waste disposal rules, then it is a good thing. If he is trying to slide new regulations in the back door, then that could be bad - although given most governments track records for implementing rational policy, it might still be a good thing... :?

Ah right...

... so 'planting moles' in government departments is only fair when the Labour party does it?

Bollocks.

He would be principally trying to get laws that would impact him or the duchy estates changed to minimise the impact. There could be other motives such as environmental. It is not a constitutional problem. Once he is king he will have all the access as monarch he needs. The Prime MInister is expected to update the monarch with a weekly audience to discuss anything that the government might be considering. Rather than veto a Bill at the Royal Assent stage they can get the government to tweak it before it comes for Assent.

Exactly Charlie will still be around to live with the consequences of any bad law whereas the politicians will be hiding when the [LIFTED] hits the fan.

I think someone who owns most of Cornwall is pretty insulated from bad laws if I'm honest with you.
