When cyclists start obeying red lights, I'll start listening to them.

There are a few who jump lights, but if you have ever been hit from behind at lights by a car then you might see why they do. I do not condone jumping lights, as the highway code applies to all users.

They ride on the pavements here. There's practically no traffic, and I'll have some maniac on a bike barrelling towards me expecting me to step aside for them, which I don't.

Irrelevant. I've been hit from behind in a car by another car at a traffic light. Doesn't give me the right to tear through it when it's on red.

Obey the laws or get off the road. It's that simple and how many wheels you have is a complete non-factor.

I have been hit twice from behind while cycling yet I still do not jump lights. I was only saying it as a motive for some doing so. I used clip in shoes as well, so tougher getting in and out of them at lights. It is still not right to jump the lights.

Without details of the accident, it's impossible to know if any safety devices fitted to the lorry would have helped.
