Very clever as it will get noticed and in this cased picked up by the BBC - the cost of buying that level of exposure for BA would be millions

It shows that the customer service at BA needs to be improved. If they had done a better job beforehand it would not have escalated to this point.

To be fair, you'd either have to be pretty pissed off or pretty rich to throw down a grand to complain about something. It would have been cheaper to just buy his dad a new suitcase full of clothes...

Depends on what was in the case. If it was a weeks holiday, then the cost of a replacement case, plus clothing, wash bat etc. would quickly top 1000 dollars, at least for me.

Viral internet posts can be powerful.

I still remember 'United Breaks Guitars'.

I thought that airlines were limited in the payout for luggage? So if you lose a bag you would be making a loss even if they paid the limit of their statutory liability.

I'm still trying to forget it.

IMO United was doing us all a favour by trying to stamp out his 3rd rate country music...

Want something fixed, or at the very least looked at urgently? Bitch about it on Twitter. People take note and act. I kept getting someone else's’ emails from an Irish phone company (their bills, no less). No amount of emails to their help desk solved the problem. They were constantly “escalating” it, but to where I’ll never know.

I mention it on Twitter, and it’s sorted within 12 hours.

Now all I need to to is get Costa to reply to my email I sent them about how they do tea, and I’ll be happy.
