I'll be very interested to know how noisy this thing will be; you're talking about an area that already has an airport, train tracks, DC motorway, and docks all a few feet from each other!

Oh, and would the FoE rather it just went to the dump?

Better question - could the FoE not just fcuk off?

Noise is unlikely to be a problem. The turbine will be well shield. The real issues are the noxious output, depending on the gasification process. It might be smelly if not efficient. Though It will also reduce your councils waste management costs as landfill will not be needed. FoE are probably concerned about the potentially toxic exhaust.

If you wanna use Google Maps or whatever, try 'Harland and Wolff Shipyard' or 'Titanic Quarter' to get an idea of the area as it is today. The noise and smells fairly travel when it's windy, I'll tell you that.

They may also run the exhaust fumes through another set of filters to reduce soot and noxious chemicals.
