That could've been much worse.

It could have been very much worse.

Quote:
Louise Hilton left Windmill Hill Nursery, Runcorn, at about 13:00 on Wednesday and soon after knocked on her parents' door saying "Mummy, I'm home".

It is believed a door at the nursery was left open by a workman, police said. The nursery has not commented.

Louise's father John, said it was a "shocking ordeal" and called for sackings.

"She got out of school, electric gates and everything, walked half a mile, walked through the woods and was 50 yards away from the canal," said Mr Hilton.

Bright kid to know her way home at two. Though would moving her be any better she may not be able to find her way home if she escapes from the next Stalag Nursery.

Ordeal may not be the right word, but it is shocking. She could have been hit by a car etc.

I'd be proud of my daughter if she could do that at 2. Certainly looks as if the workmen weren't properly trained. Hopefully the nursery had covered themselves by profiling the appropriate training/ instructions before the workman started and that he signed that he understood his responsibilities.

On the other hand, mane I'm just used to working in the food industry, where that is standard procedure.

Yeah. Site inductions, tool box talks, pre job meetings, what ever you want to call them.
If they had one and they covered the issue, then the builders are in trouble, if they didn't, the school/nursery are in trouble.

If my boy had got out at 2 /12, there's no was he'd have got home. It's about two miles next to a busy main road and there's a crossing over a dual carriageway junction.

When I was at nursery/primary school, home was well within walking distance. Maybe 5 mins max as an adult? Very simply go straight to the end of the road and turn right.

It might have been the same for this child. If she walked to nursery she make have learnt the route.
