I saw a 4k display a few days ago and very nice it was too. However it only had ultra slow mo nature stuff on there so I have to assume it would play like a dog with any action stuff, just like the majority of HD TVs out there. |

Quality control: why we should embrace 4K Blu-ray, not dismiss it http://www.techradar.com/news/home-cine ... it-1180588 ... 4K Blu-ray is dead tech walking http://www.techradar.com/news/home-cine ... ng-1180545 The notion that discs are going anywhere soon is nonsense, you will always have people who actually want to own and hold what they've bought. But I'm not convinced enough people bought into BR never mind taking the piss with 4K. The TVs will need to be absolutely stunning and cheap right off the bat. And that's just not going to happen. |

The TV's will get cheaper that happens all the time. Look at the take off of technology as it hits certain price points. Once they get below £1000 they will start to sell and once below £400 they will be common place. It simply is a matter of time before manufacturers have worked out the production issues to lower the prices. I might be old school but I prefer physically owning something rather than a digital download that I may or may not be able to use at some point in the future and probably cannot sell of give away. |

It'll take too long for 4K BR to gain any traction though, and like I said, not everyone even bought into BR the way they did DVD. There just wasn't enough reason to, and certainly not at the price of yet another machine and stupidly expensive discs. If it looks expensive in Tesco, you're generally bolloxed ![]() Plus how many people just bought a new, cheap TV? From Tesco? ![]() |

DVD sales are plummeting and they have stripped all the extras from most new DVD's and have been put on the Blu Rays instead. It makes a price increase for DVD's as you are paying the same for less. My BluRay collection is a lot smaller than my DVD's and I am not replacing the DVD's with Blurays. |

The only reason I even have BRs is that the PS3 plays them and I didn't buy the discs until they were super cheap, otherwise I would never have owned any at all. Mostly I was buying for the added extras. |

I only started buying for the big blockbusters and I am buying them cheap, in clearance deals or below a tenner. I am only going for those that would look good in high definition. |
