Sells to bigger suckers. There was some debate as to how it will make money and adding ads to tweets might not be popular, but scanning all your tweets and targeting ads or selling that information to others might be creepier.

It's the classic web 2.0 business model, they've just strung it along for a bit. Make a cool web page, get loads of users, sell up to some idiot who thinks 'loads of users' are by themselves something of value. Don't mention the world 'profit' at any point and hope people don't ask. In other words, the MySpace model. Look how that turned out.
