http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/24071219 I could understand banning it because people are sick of it, but this is just nonsense. |

I played it on Youtube with the Lyrics and it does not seem to hint at rape at all.

That's because it largely doesn't make any sense at all, about anything. But then song lyrics often don't. However you'd have to assume the people complaining at least presented some justification for the prohibition. We've only heard the public statements which might not include all of that. Plus the video has been a tad controversial, which is associated with the song without being expressed in the lyrics. It could also be a University group making a statement at the start of term to set the standard for the coming year. If it makes enough people uncomfortable, it would end up being a floor clearer and DJs would stop playing it anyway. |

The lyrics sound more like a chat up line in a night club, about her not being married and the blurred lines as to being with one person or another or in the process of switching affection. A lot of lyrics make no sense at all. Even if you are on drugs. ![]() |

It may not explicitly mention or imply rape but some of the lyrics can certainly be interpreted as heading in that direction. "I know you want it" and/or "Must wanna get nasty" for example could be considered a bit to close to 'she was asking for it' which is much more in the rape camp. When I listened to the lyrics I thought it sounded a bit creepy/wrong so I can certainly see where the Union is coming from. |
