http://www.theguardian.com/media/2013/s ... -executive He seems a relatively sensible chap, but I wouldn't trust Ofcom to regulate how cold a fridge was. |

Sounds like he is empire building.
Industry figures have their own agenda which will be damaging to the BBC. Also for its size the House of Commons has even more scandals in relative and absolute terms. |

i believe after all the scandals (pay, tax avoidance, management pay off's, children, etc) there is a bigger case for moving the BBC into the private sector then any case for Royal mail ... |

Many of those same problems happen in the private sector. Nepotism is probably a bigger problem in the private sector than in the public sector. Management pay offs are very common in the private sector. The problems of this nature within the BBC could be down to the influx of private sector managers. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD |

Given that almost every house pays the TV licence tax, why not scrap that, raise taxes by the same amount annually, make it the Ministry Of Television, and subject it to the same management rules and pay/pay off limitations as other government departments? Don't let them set their own pay offs, salaries and bonuses etc. |

Because the BBC was incorporated the way it is in order to maintain editorial independence. A little wasted money - which is hardly less likely to happen inside a ministry of TV than it is in the BBC - is a small price to pay compared with allowing a government minister of any party to interfere with what is shown. |
