I was in a gang, but more of a loose definition, oh and we were not destructive at all. I suspect that most of these gangs are simply just groups of kids who are loosely affiliated, but would not be a gang in the criminal sense.

Exactly. Being in a gang isn't necessarily something bad. Only when the gang is involved in criminal activity is it a problem.
