A friend of mine said that it was the East Europeans that did it more, he could find his way to the Olympic site by following the spit marks on the pavement.

I don't think that's true at all, and I live in Walthamstow where there are tons of east Europeans. I had a confusing moment a couple of years ago when some Indian bloke practiced his Polish on me because it didn't occur to him I would be English. Needless to say, if East Europeans were heavy spitters I would be drenched in phlegm.
