News CLICKYNow I don't want to sound all Daily Mail, but given that's it a Roman Catholic school, did Muslim boys expect to be allowed to break the rules on uniform and appearance? Maybe if it was a non religeous school you could make an arguement for it, but it clearly says Catholic. If you don't like Cathoic school rules, don't go to a catholic school.

When I was at school beards and moustaches were also banned on pupils. It is not a religious issue.

May have shared this before, but at Dental School in the early 80's we had to apply to the Dean to grow a beard. You were given a month to grow and develop it, then it was checked and if deemed acceptable you could keep it. Otherwise off it had to come.

You don't always get the choice, I think. I know my brother's son is just starting a new school and they were asked for a list of preferences and the one he's going to wasn't on the list they gave. if your children are allocated to a school with a particular code of behaviour - be it uniform or whatever - that you think may be a legitimate issue for your religion, are you allowed to appeal on that basis?

I wouldn't care if you were allowed to appeal or not, my kids would not go to a RC school.

Thankfully I've won that arguement (okay, debate) with my wife. There was a chance of her wanting to send the boys to a catholic primary school, but she heard bad things about it from other parents (several different sources) who send their children there. She's rules out the catholic secondary school too as it has terrible results. The state school round the corner is much better. Thankfully that means we didn't waste money when we bought a house in a good catchment area. Lev 2 - Mrs Lev 0

And it may be brought in up 35 years time.

Doubt it. She just brings up our wedding day when she's in a real mood.

Attending an RC school actually helped my (admittedly somewhat problematic) nephews. I suspect this has more to do with rules regarding facial hair on boys than deliberate persecution.
