A new series captures what life is like at frozen food retailer Iceland, but are some of us a little bit snooty in our attitude to frozen food?

Google it and you'll see there have been dozens of attempts to establish whether fresh or frozen vegetables are better for you.

Many cite a US Food and Drug Administration report from 1998 that established frozen was better than fresh. Advocates of frozen say the process prevents nutrient loss occurring in transport. Even those who plump for fresh admit that frozen vegetables are still a healthy option.

And yet there's a marked degree of antipathy towards frozen food.

I'm not snobbish about frozen food at all. I'm perfectly happy buying it, as long as there's room in the showbox size freezer that's in my fridge. Mark

We use some frozen veg. Some doesn't freeze well, but broccoli and cauliflower freeze very well. We very rarely buy and frozen finished dishes, just ingredients. We also freeze some of our own stuff.

Frozen is usually preferable to tinned, which is the only viable alternative now all the local shops have shut. I do like tinned sweet corn though.

we have 4 freezers, 1 small above a fridge(holds 6 loaves), 2x6 draw upright and 1 small chest freezer have bought frozen veg for years about the only regular fresh veg we buy are spuds and salad also when meat or fresh veg are on offer or at a reduced price in the evenings it is purchased and frozen most of the fruit we buy is tinned very little fresh is bought unless reduced in price its saved us a small fortune over the years and ensures we have very little waste ...

We buy lots of frozen foods. The amount varies week to week. I love buying the small bags of veg that you can chuck in the microwave. We also buy the likes of burgers, chips, fish, ice cream and pizzas. We tend not to go to iceland or farmfoods purely because the range and cost can be worse than a mainstream supermarket.

I don't tend to buy a lot of frozen stuff but I do tend to cook in bulk-ish and freeze portions. I don't think I'd buy frozen ready meals but there are plenty of ingredients that can be frozen & defrosted with no ill effects. If you're snobbish about say frozen peas, you're a fool.

Don’t buy a huge load of frozen stuff Some veg – mainly peas, and a mixed bag of veg for emergencies The odd ready meal as an emergency Cant be bothered to cook) Ice-cream! Oh and a big bag of ice that got for a party Will freeze meat as will buy in bulk(ish) when cheap My dad sends a meat parcel from his local butchers in Scotland as a Xmas present every year so that goers in the freezer Have a load of home grown veg in there at the moment

We freeze food, but we generally don’t go out of our way to buy ready made frozen meals. This reminds me: the need to make some ice cream is growing stronger.

I think people are more suspicious of frozen, processed, food than before. Horse meat burgers don't particularly worry me, but the lack of controls that allowed it to happen does.

Like Big D I generally on freeze vegetables and meat. The only processed foods might be meat pies from the farmers market. Like others I do not have processed ready meals in the freezer. Though fish fingers are probably one of the exceptions like chicken kiev. I get my meat from the local butcher already bagged into smaller portions so it just goes straight into the freezer. Most of my veg is frozen and you do have to be a snob to turn your nose up at frozen peas. I might shop online at Iceland as they have a free delivery if you spend £25 or more. There's a big difference between frozen veg and frozen pre prepared meals with loads of fat and salt.
