I don't know about 'always', we used to ship people to Australia for theft and about half of them died on the way.

Manslaughter sentence is usually 10-15 years. With standard remission you're actually talking between 5 and 10 years served. In this case his lawyer would probably be able to make a strong argument for the lower end of the tariff.

I don't understand your complaint. He got 10 years for manslaughter, which is more than the 3 years for burglary.

Yep, I see that now. That'll teach me to only read the article... In the article it says 3 years and 6 months, no mention of 10 years. I had skipped the sub-head.
