http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-24847399FFS. Nobody has a problem with the intelligence agencies targeting scumbags - it's the invasion of privacy of entire countries we're talking about here, including our own. And the ISC panel membership is almost a bad joke...

Even at the height of the NI Troubles the numbers involved on each side was only around a 100 to 200 active members. I suspect that the vast majority of terrorists are self radicalised muslims who watch certain videos on Youtube and other sites. You only really need to follow anyone who watches those sites, yet the security agencies need to justify their existence and imagine potential threats from everyone. I wonder how many from the million mask march will now be under constant surveillance?

The risk from Terrorism is significantly over blown. Even during the London bombing campaign I never heard anything even though I was living and cycling through London. The same applies for the current terrorism threat. The risks are still much lower than getting killed in a car accident.

Exactly. All the old presidents are turning in their graves.

Agreed it is incredible that the majority are willing to give up freedoms at the slightest risk, yet will happily buy food that is more dangerous than Al Qaeda. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

Overblown they may be, but real nevertheless. It's the same as your NSA terror. The invasion of privacy is real, but to make it something to actually fear rather than be mildly irritated by, you are forced to inject dramatic Big Brother fantasies into the scenario. Even during the hight of the spying, all that you lost was a tiny bit of information about who you emailed or phoned, that nobody found interesting.
