Weird thing is I can't bring him to mind but I can bring to mind someone doing an impression of his rather broad Northern Irish accent.

Spitting Image had him down to a t.

I can remember his reporting as being worth listening to. Something to be said for his sharp analysis and precise use of language

There's an impressionist over here who used to impersonate him, so with his voice in your head it'd be, 'John Cole here, right, let's get down to it for f**ksake'

I remember seeing him in a interview after he left the Beeb saying he left Northern Ireland because nothing ever happened....
He was concise and articulate,well worth listening too.
