There's no real info on why! When she was asked for a reason she basically said "I've plead guilty that's all I'm going to say"

Yes all very vague. Until we have an idea of why she did it she should be locked up permanently, otherwise how can you assess whether she is a risk to society?

She's plead guilty for exactly that reason - guilty plea = no trial = no story. It's classic serial killer controlling behaviour. By not giving the victim's relatives and public what they want, she is asserting her power over them.

It comes down to this : she's a nutter. Seriously. There's no point trying to explain or rationalise what she did, because she's not rational. She's operating with a completely different set of internal rules and logic to 'normal' people. Even if she did explain it, it might as well be in Martian. If it was explained, it wouldn't help. It wouldn't mean that we could stop the next one, because the next one won't be like her, the same way two windows don't break with identical cracks.

The relatives of her victims would be much better just accepting they were killed by someone who was fundamentally damaged and try to get on with their lives. Waiting for her to 'explain' why she did it will only make their lives worse.

That fact that you described her has irrational also explains why the death penalty is wrong. Irrational people do not think of the consequences and so stop.
