http://www.techradar.com/news/internet/ ... ps-1202147 Will that work day to day? Certainly won't make any difference if the agencies actually do what they're supposed to do and take it to court if Twitter refuses handover. As opposed to the coerced data collection going on

If the government snoops cannot get via a back door they will simply arrive at the front door with a warrant. |

Which is how it should be. Don't they have to show that they have reasonable suspicion of an individual to get a warrant? Plus they can't get a warrant for the whole US population. |

Agreed, the vast majority of us are of no interest to the government except to a government that is afraid of us. |

May I introduce you to my friends The Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978 and The PATRIOT Act of 2001. The combination of those two effectively is a warrant for the whole US population. I agree that the vast, vast majority have no involvement in terrorism or such and therefore have 'nothing to fear' from government surveillance. However equally they have a right to privacy, up to and including from the government. The whole issue is that the US and UK governments appear to have moved from 'snooping on the bad guys who might do something wrong' to 'snooping on everyone just in case a few of them might do something wrong'. There's a world of moral difference between those two statements. |
