Yes, that's right, the government's Department of Business can't balance it's own books

And, as a result, vital higher education and research in the UK is going to be hampered for years compared to our competitors. But y'know I wouldn't want to suggest this government is incompetent or anything.

Science budgets should be the very last cut because they have two impacts. They are very long term and if you slash them then the key skills disappear, like in nuclear construction. Secondly they attract new people into the industry and science is a major long term contributor to the economy.

apparently Indie has a greater budget for this then the UK

Yes but India still has immense poverty. The real problem is corruption.
