http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-25330237 If you were a millionaire of the sort who buys stolen art on the black market, and somebody offered you this... ![]() How could you possibly tell if the were offering you the genuine original? It's children's coloured stickers on a piece of card, being sold to you by people of dubious integrity, right? |

I know art is subjective but, if you're stupid enough to cough up thousands for that crap (fake or real), you deserve to be taken for every penny. |

You realise that a variant of that artwork was installed on the Beagle 2 to be used for camera calibration? Hirst was involved in the creation of that part of the system. And we all know what happened to it. I think a large part of the cachet for that work is the artist himself. I actually like it. I don’t think I’d want to spend £15,000 on it as an object to hang over the mantlepiece, but as a speculative investment, he’s a name worth buying into. |
