The EU might be better shoring up it's own position right now without expanding and having to take on Russia in a more literal sense

The EU does not realise the mess that many existing nations are already in. I have no problem with the idea of welcoming in the Ukraine but there will be costs. As a huge grain supplier they will make a lot of farmers very rich.

the EU do not care about the state of the nations only expanding the nation state of the EU ...
