Boys lacking positive male role models are to get sessions in shaving and asking girls out at an Essex school.

The idea behind "man days" at Chase High School in Westcliff came about after an Ofsted inspection found achievement was "inadequate".

How about the school provides a chaperone to anyone wanting to date?

Planned to start in the New Year, the "man days" will also include a round of golf, a possible visit to a military assault course, shaving advice, guidance on dating and dining skills.

In recent times I've often wondered how you'd define what was actually sexist these days - and I have to admit, that's a pretty good start where blokes are concerned

It all reads like a personal social engineering crusade :? , and by fcuk I hate it when the phrase 'social skills' gets used as a catch-all for justifying kids and even adults becoming herd-like

I think it'd be more useful to show boys that there's value in doing well at school no?
Why does the government make out that dating and having sex from 12 onwards is normal? I'd have been mortified to have sex-ed classes age 11-12.

Because it happens. Children are more aware and some more precocious than they used to be. The rationale here is that if kids know what’s going on, then they know if it’s right or not. Are those things your special uncle asks you to do normal? It’s not so much the mechanics, but certainly making sure that kids are aware.

Also, girls are maturing far younger than they were 30 years ago. Some are entering puberty (with all that implies) in primary school now. They need to know what that means as well.

To be fair I could have done with lessons on asking girls out when I was in my mid teens. Shy is an understatement.

I've got advice: Talk to girls you fancy like you'd talk to a good friend. They're not a different specie.
Also any girl that expects you to grovel and go out of your way to woo her to is probably not worth dating.
