Before I started my specialist training, about half of my cohort were going to Oz and NZ. Half of those were back a year down the line. Half still there. It's not just trainees either. I know quite a few GPs are going too - less bureacracy, more pay, patients don't turn up for sick notes or simple self-manageable conditions, and they have more respect too. Compare this to the media frenzy to destroy the NHS, vilify doctors (esp GPs), a Govt that encourages demand rather than encourage self-management, and piss poor management of the whole system. In all honesty, if I didn't have the ties, I'd leave the UK too. |

Over here, they keep saying that we are losing doctors and nursing staff to the UK, because the pay is better... |

When I was last in Sweden there was a dentist who also moved to the UK to work. He would make more in the UK than in Sweden. |
