So who will be next? Apple? Google? Dropbox? Yahoo? In fact all US firms are in the same position. If they are not colluding with the NSA then they will get legal demands that that they cannot even mention that will demand it anyway. |

Dunno about the rest but Apple have previously said that they haven't cooperated with the NSA either voluntarily or under the terms of the PATRIOT act. Presumably if that changes they'll decline to answer the question if asked it again, which may be legally grey enough for them to get away with. |

What I find amusing (and a little alarming at the same time) about this is that whoever was in charge of the Skype accounts at MS was using the same password for all of them - PCPro Clickety. |

I don't think Apple 'legally' have got a 'get out of jail card free' ... |

Oh no, if USGov come calling they'll have to comply. It's just that because they got asked the question before the call from the NSA, they're allowed to say they haven't had one. Then if they do get asked, legally they have to refuse to answer the question from then on. So essentially people will know they've had to do it. Whereas if they'd just said 'no comment' in the first place, nobody would ever be any wiser whether they had or not. Course it could all be a lie. As it stands we have no way of knowing either way, you either trust what they say or you don't. |

They could not mention it even if asked, that is illegal under the Patriot Act. So even though my mail goes through Apple servers I am not really a threat to the USA in any respect and at any level. Plus I use the old adage assume that it is being read somewhere anyway. Though I am not happy with my passwords on the apple servers because of the NSA. |
