Recently, we’ve heard a lot about children in this country who have come to disturbing ends because of physical abuse by parents and other close adults. However, in the good old US of A, some religious [LIFTED] decided that when his daughter was gravely ill, he’d just pray because....

Quote:
"If I go to the doctor, I am putting the doctor before God," he said.

The illness was treatable, and had the 11 year old been taken to a doctor, she would have lived to see 12. Or even 112. Instead, they just prayed.

Anyway, a long prison stretch is inevitable.

Saw that this morning, couldn't help thinking that God can't even save an 11 year old, never mind an entire planet if it came down to it

This effectively means the state will be blaming the man for his belief in God's abilities doesn't it? :?

That's a thorny issue if anyone over there questions it...

i read that this morning
they should have passed the death sentence on him for premeditated murder
that way he can meet his maker and explain why he allowed a child to die and if he finds there is no maker to talk too he would be able to spend an eternity in the other alleged place …

"God" was clearly busy dealing with all the other atrocities in the world, oh wait... ;)

People have some silly notions about the nature of God.

It reminds me of a "joke" which I really like:

A man is trapped on a cliff face with the waves crashing beneath, and he prays to God to save him.

A boat comes along, and the captain calls to him - "Jump down, we'll rescue you!". The man replies "It's OK, I have faith - God will save me!"
A helicopter comes along and they throw him a line, but he says "It's OK, I have faith - God will save me!"
A hot air balloon comes along side and the occupants offer their assistance. The man says "It's OK, I have faith - God will save me!"

After many hours, the man falls and is dashed to pieces against the rocks. He ascends to heaven where he meets his maker.

He asks; "God, I'm a religious man and I prayed - why did you not save me?"

God replies; "I sent you a boat, a helicopter and a balloon. What the f*ck more did you want from me?!"

If you believe in God, then believe that he works through the hands of good doctors who dedicate their lives to helping others.

I was about to post that as well (having read the OP and not having scrolled down...

Some people are just too stupid for this world.

I guess this is the moment his faith ran out then?

It's a tragedy, but he's not the first and he won't be the last. What can you do with these people?

Their faith is personal to them and you have to respect that. At least I think you do, but then I'm not like most people

What people believe is their business but I cannot respect anyone who will let a child die because they believe in a book.

You ever heard "hate the sin, not the sinner"? That's why I respect their right to believe what they want, but I don't respect anyone who will let a child die either ;)

For the record, the book isn't the issue.

Quite correct, a fictional book is nothing to worry about. ;)
