There is a private members bill currently going through parliament to get the late August bank holiday formally named Margaret Thatcher Day. I can only point you here. The bill was proposed by the possibly aptly named Peter Bone, MP for Wellingborough. His other recent contribution in the house is an early day motion to attempt to get parliament to continue restrictions on Bulgarians and Romanians after EU restrictions were lifted. I'm sure his constituents have got so few worries as to allow him to spend parliamentary time on these issues.

I'm a fan of Maggie and even I think that's a stupid idea.

As a friend has just observed when I told him, it would likely be celebrated with parties down south and very much like Guy Fawkes night oop north.

It will get changed at the next available opportunity. She is far too divisive right now. Maybe in a century?

Do we get to burn her in effigy? I hope the witch rots in hell.

I'm guessing never. We don't have a Winston Churchill day for example.

He is even more deserving of the honour.

There's practically a cavalcade of people who are more deserving than Mrs. Thatcher. There are any number of English men and women who made the lives of people all round the world better while harming virtually no-one. As oppose to being a figurehead of a particular political movement who even her death showed was hated as much as loved.
