I never know quite what to think about our defence capability other than it's quite obvious we're America's bitch.

Oh, and that we should actually ask what we're defending cos it's rarely the UK itself. We seem much more interested in a global dick-swinging contest.

The smaller naval ships do a good job of combating piracy and drug smuggling.

I think that we should still keep the carriers and scrap trident and offer it up as part of the nuclear disarmament treaties. Then have lots more small craft that are good for coastal defence, fishery protection and as you said anti piracy and drug smuggling.
