I do hope our courts really punish them and hit them with a fine that actually hurts. Too many fines are simply an additional cost of doing business. |

A fine that actually punishes Google might be quite useful; could probably wipe out most of the deficit with that... |

Agreed. Most fines are simply additional business costs. The fines should be so large that the company could struggle to make a profit for the year if hit by the fines. If they are scaled so bigger companies pay a lot more then it would also be fairer as they would almost certainly have the resources to make sure that they complied. A small local corner shop might have problems complying to the same extent. A company like Google could easily afford to ensure that they complied. |
