Quote:
Detective Constable Alan Pritchard told the court that officers had been confined in their search because of a prior arrangement with News International executive Simon Greenberg, a former head of communications and one of the members of the management standards committee.

Quote:
"Mrs Brooks is removed, almost marched out of the building. This stuff is there when you arrive later that evening and not a bit of it recovered by the police?" Laidlaw said to Pritchard.

Pritchard replied that he was had no instruction to search the PAs' files. "The area we had consent to search was her office and that was what the search was confined to."

The scope of the search was rather limited - so all that was needed was to move sensitive information from the office to escape detection.

If you're suspected (there were already emails and convictions of others) of hacking the phones of murder victims and their families you have no right to complain when the police come knocking! The police would have been justified in trashing the place in my view and handing them a form to fill out...

But you forget that News International was a nice little earner for many coppers. They will not screw that up, so expecting any competence was foolhardy to say the least.

Up to 10 mobile phones and iPads linked to Rebekah Brooks have disappeared and remain unaccounted for, the Old Bailey has heard.

Lock her up for contempt of court until these devices are found.

Then assume at least one of the devices had a PIN on it and lock her up again until she tells you the correct PIN for all of them

I suspect that most older devices might have only the default manufacturers PIN so not likely that they would need to hold her once they had access.
