I'm curious as to what basis he is trying to appeal with.
He confessed to what he did, was a corrupting influence on at least 2 other people and, as far as I remember, was thoroughly unrepentant about what he'd done.

If anything his sentence, in the view of the public at least, wasn't long enough. If it wasn't the absolute maximum that could have been dished out at the time then any appeal to could backfire anyway (and I doubt there would be that many people who would be sad if it did).
