Water shortages. Hahahahahahaha.
After the storms we have just had I would expect all underground reserves to be overflowing right now.

While there is no risk right now. The fact that it was announce today is amusing. I am not sure how long it takes to refill aquifers after they have been drained,

Quote:
"It is difficult to fathom we should start to think about water shortages in the middle of these storms but only two years ago areas of Britain were suffering from severe droughts," said Ed Byers, a researcher at Newcastle University's engineering and geosciences department.

"The high dependency on water in electricity generation means there is a real possibility that in just a few decades some power stations may be forced to decrease production or shut down if there are water shortages, which may be expected with changes in climate and a growing population."

This will create huge problems for politicians, what will they do in drought years? Will they stop farmers watering crops, resulting in higher food prices? Will they allow water to be used for fracking, or power generation? If water prices rise will fracking be viable?
