The EU don't give a crap about the telecoms in Asia and there's no reason why they should. The thing they give a crap about is anything that's a restraint on freedom of trade or freedom of movement within the EU, which mobile roaming charges definitely count as (IMO).They've been coining it for years and finally someone has noticed that they shouldn't have been. Hard cheese mate.

Swantee said that in his view the £3-a-day charges for roaming in the EU using a bundle or the same data and voice allowance that account holders could use in the UK were reasonable, and put roaming in reach of most people.

Yes but this is a single market. I should not be charged for using my phone any more in Germany or Scotland. So would they treat Scotland as outside the remit of any roaming charges and start ripping people off as they go to Scotland for a break?

If iScotland is ruled as being outside the EU, you bet they will.
