Tim Cook Soundly Rejects Politics of the NCPPR, Suggests Group Sell Apple’s Stock

NCPPR Response (note: uses Comic Sans)

Basically, at an investor's meeting, a right wing lobby group put forward a motion that Apple should cease all activity that does not demonstrably and immediately improve shareholder return. For example - pushing for better conditions for workers, spending R&D money to improve iOS device usability for the sight impaired, making their products more sustainable and recyclable. Stuff like that.

Tim Cook said Apple wasn't and never would be that kind of company and if the NCPPR disapproved they could always sell their shares and go somewhere else.

Hilariously, the NCPPR motion was refused, with only 3% of the shareholders voting in favour.

NCPPR put up hissy fit press release, completely ignoring the fact their motion was laughed out of the meeting.

Ultimately all those things that they are doing are actually beneficial for the company. They would result in lower legal fees and higher sales to the sight impaired. Better conditions for employees would save a fortune in missed work days and healthcare costs. Also such policies make recruitment so much easier. Such extreme policies are exceptionally shortsighted.
