If it's encrypted from source then hacking the cable will only provide you encrypted data.
You'd need the decryption key from the other end, no?

I'm clueless, so I'm asking :lol:

I'd expect the various agencies to already have a way around such encryption, really.

Mark is correct, they would need the private keys of both ends of the conversation (data transfer) in order to be able to decrypt it.
