A dozen previously unknown works created by Andy Warhol have been recovered from 30-year-old Amiga disks.

The art experiments were produced in 1985 by Warhol under commission from Commodore - creator of the Amiga computer.

Commodore paid the artist to produce a series of works to aid the launch of the Amiga 1000.

8-)

I remember spending hours mucking about with Neochrome on the Atari ST.

I remember using what Amigas called HAM (Hold And Modify) for more colours on the screen at Uni. I can't remember the advantage, but the graphics software we had used it a lot.

HAM was higher resolution and had 4096 colours, instead of 256, ISTR.

Edit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hold-And-Modify not bad, 4096 colour mode, I can still remember some things.

I was just going to post a link to this story. I've got a question
Quote:
A painstaking three-year project was required to recover the images which were saved in an obscure data format.
...
The recovery project was initially thwarted from viewing the actual images as the data was saved in an obscure format that modern Amiga emulators could not read.

COBBLERS!

Are you telling me that someone, somewhere couldn't get hold of an original Amiga A1000 and just re-save the images in a more accessible format?

How? There weren't any 'more accessible' formats on the Amiga.

That said, there were tools around in the early 90s to convert to BMP I think.

What I found interesting is that they used a process to read the disks that was non-destructive.
