Is this some kind of recognition that will go or be severely weakened if we lose EU membership? Just being a cynic.

We’ll need another colour to slap on the flag when Scotland jumps ship anyway, so why not black?

Interestingly, it talks about the word “kief” - which is where we get the word “chief” from, as well as “chef”. I was taught a long while back that the variations in French meant that as the words filtered across to this country, they cam with different meanings depending on the pronunciation. I wasn’t aware that it was likely to be a separate French-related language, but just an evolutionary process. So, interesting.

No where in the vocabulary table is there a translation for “Tea. Earl Grey. Hot.” though.

Picard is also strongly influenced by English from the soldiers fighting in the Somme. We have words like washingue (mop) and podingue (cake)
