They have a point. His policies are very old labour that will be very popular with the left but could worry swing voters. The reason Blair did so well for so long was that he targeted his policies towards swing voters. Miliband is risking a lot by moving away from the middle ground.

It's the eternal political catch-22 though isn't it? You can't get your policies implemented unless you're in power and you can't get in power unless your policies appeal to a certain limited section of the electorate in marginal seats. The result is generally very dull, centrist politics. Unless you're willing to just lie pre-election like the current mob did.
