Is it just me or is society heading towards full-on sociopathy? From women giving their kids to paedos, to people needlessly dying in hospital, through watching people suffer on TV. When did we get this wrong?

In the case of the NHS, I suspect people die all the time, and when you're dealing with millions of people dying a year, some of them die in times and circumstances that are inappropriate. And I suspect people do get disciplined for it.

The thing at the moment is, and if you watch enough of Sky News you'll definitely see that this is the case, that there is a definite strategy to make the NHS seem as incompetent as possible, because then those with vested interest can roll out the same old 'private industry will obviously do this better, because you know, things' (despite the fact the evidence suggests in this case they won't, and cost twice as much into the bargain). And then they can actually overtly just sell off the NHS, rather than having to take the extra effort to obfuscate it the way they're currently doing.

The NHS is as good or bad as it's always been, more or less. Only the way it's story is presented has changed.

I appreciate there's always an agenda with the news, but bloody hell, it's happening way too often in places of care. Or supposed care.

I remember my grandfather going into the care home and being specifically told to talk to family if he wasn't happy about anything in the place.

There's something amiss in the story, and it's always difficult to piece things together unless you have both sides of the story.

Quote:
alleging that doctors and nurses failed to diagnose her treatable condition

Just because something is treatable does not mean it was easy to diagnose. Unlikely that nurses would have diagnosed it.

Quote:
The grandmother-of-eight died of multiple organ failure triggered by blood clots in her bowel

Sounds like mesenteric ischaemia, which in itself isn't straightforward to pick up. Even if it was picked up, it has a relatively high mortality rate.

Quote:
repeatedly warned doctors Mrs Lamberty had a history of blood clots

Then I wonder if she was on the appropriate medication?
