Twice as much statutory pay would still be a pay cut for most fathers. There's no way I could afford two weeks on statutory pay when my sons were born. I took it as holiday instead. The same would be true if they doubled it. |

Twice as much paternity pay would still be a massive pay cut for a lot of people. Added to the fact you're on reduced income whilst the mother is on maternity pay and it's still not a viable option |

This is likely the case for most people. With that in mind, they might as well do it for the sake of good press - it'll barely make a dent because nobody will use it. |

Actually, I sort of lied there. Last time I booked it as paternity leave with my manager, but failed to submit the forms he gave me to HR. As such HR never docked my wages down to statutory pay levels. |
