Nothing much on the BBC site, other than a brief statement. I had to check that one when the BBC app pushed an alert.

A comedy genius, no doubt about it.
Such a shame.

I never really got into the Young Ones, but Rik was always great.

I loved him in the New Statesman and his Kevin Turvey was usually good for a laugh.

And I remember trying to stay up late to watch "Comic Strip presents" as a kid. The only ones that still stick in my mind are the "Famous Five" episode and the one with the neanderthal camp at a university, although it is all very hazy.

:(

But, at the same time let's also remember the laughs that he, and others, gave us.

R.I.P. Rik.

Thought I’d post some Mayall things I found last night. Not the usual Blackadder and Young Ones clips that have been doing the rounds.

Here he is as Kevin Turvey:

This is a long one, but he read George’s Marvellous Medicine on Jackanory. It got a bit messy.

And Rik and Ade as the Dangerous Brothers - two characters who seem to have evolved into Richie and Eddie in Bottom

I watched the jackanory episode with my daughter a couple of years ago. Very good. :-(

Sent from my big ass Sony Xperia Z Ultra tabphonelet, using Tapatalk 4.
