I don't see the problem, big business does this all the time, although it is more blatant in America, where lobbying is done in the open.

If be is offering advice and giving his point of view, how is that any different to an MP's surgery? If he is trying to force them to change policy, that is a different matter.

I think Frank Herbert had it right, the biggest sin was corruption by a civil servant (there were effectively no politicians) and the second sin was attempting to corrupt a civil servant, bot punishable by death. If we applied that to politicians, it would be a good start, although I'd be for throwing them put of office and banging them up for a while, the same for people/businesses trying to corrupt politicians through payments, job offers, blackmail etc.
